5 Things You Need To Know About Swimming & Self Tan | Caribbeantan

Keep these 5 Tips on hand for a long lasting tan

The sun is out and you’re ready to flaunt your golden glow by the poolside. Unfortunately, swimming can reduce your tan’s longevity, but we’re here to give you some info and tips so that you’re able to keep that golden tan and look bronzy in your cozzie.

1. Chlorine Will Fade Your Tan

Chlorine has lightening properties which strip away skin cells and this fades your tan more quickly. To make your tan last longer, you need to keep your skin moisturised and re-apply your self-tanner often. We recommend applying our Milk & Honey Hydrating Body Butter to keep your skin nourished and moisturised. This baby will prolong the life of your tan so that you can still enjoy your summer days at the poolside. Remember, instead of re-applying your self-tanner now and then, you will need to apply it often if you plan on swimming. A gradual self-tan would be good to re-apply. You can choose between our Tan In A Can Gradual and Bronzing Mousse if you want a beautiful gradual tan that develops within a few hours.

2. SPF To Protect Yourself From The Sun

Three important letters… SPF- always! We love to be in the sun, but we’ve only got one skin in this lifetime, so girl, we need to take care of it. You’re about to get the best of both worlds right now. Our Instant Body Bronzer has an SPF factor of 20, it is moisturising and will leave your skin sun-kissed, I mean what more do you want? Your skin is protected from the harmful sun exposure while keeping your skin moisturised with shea butter that will prolong your tan and you’ll be bronzed up quicker than those fellas next you, except you didn’t damage your skin from baking in the sun all day! #Winning!

3. Touch Ups and Glow Ups

So, after you get out of the pool, your tan has faded a bit and your skin is pretty dry. We think it’s time for a touch up and by touch up, we mean glow up! Our Tinted Body Bronzer Shimmer Cream can be applied all over and will instantly moisturise your skin, extend the life of your tan and leave your skin with a subtle, gorgeous glow. Those fellas better put their sunnies on, because babes, you’re going to shine bright (like a diamond)- we just had to.

4. These Are All The Wash Off Tanners

Our Darkening Drops are the perfect addition to our Instant Body Bronzer and Shimmer Cream. If you want to intensify your tan, just apply a few drops to your Instant Body Bronzer and Shimmer Cream and you’re good to go. Just remember that this will wash off as soon as it comes into contact with water, so after you’ve gotten out of the pool- it will need to be re-applied. The same goes for our Body Bronzer and Shimmer Cream. You will need to touch up each time you go for a swim, but it’s totally worth it because your bronzy glow will always look fresh.

5. Keeping You And Your Tan Fresh

We’ve mentioned how chlorine can fade your tan, but you’re feeling all sweaty and just need that quick dip in the pool- go for it! The key is to take quick dips to reduce the time your tan is in contact with the chlorine and water. Once you’ve come out of the pool, rinse the chlorine water off your skin as soon as possible and gently pat yourself dry so that you avoid rubbing off any colour. Talking about sweaty… when you sweat, it can rub your tan off. Another tip to prevent this is to use baby powder to absorb the sweat. You can apply the baby powder to your armpits, the back of your knees, ankles and anywhere else.
