This is possibly the most crucial step in making sure that your spray tan will look perfect. Your skin is like a canvas that’s about to be painted.
Shower beforehand to make sure your skin is clean and free from any oils and deodorant.
2. Shaving and Waxing
To ensure a silky-smooth application we definitely do not want any hairs in the way. Be sure to shave 12-24 hours before applying your self-tan or wax 12-48 hours before; especially if your skin is sensitive.
Before applying any tanning product, scoop a generous amount of our Cinnamon and Coconut Skin Smoothing Exfolia and gently exfoliate your entire body. Pay close attention to dry areas such as; knees, elbows, feet & ankles. Wash off oils and residue and wait 8 hours before starting the self-tan process. Now for the fun part – applying the self-tan! A few important tips..
1. Dry Areas
Apply our Milk and Honey Hydrating Body Butter to dry areas such as the elbows, knees and ankles.
2. Invest in a Tanning Mitt
A tanning mitt is the secret to blending your tan seamlessly. You have more control over the application and it’s great for contouring and face tanning. A tanning mitt can also be used when applying your bronzing and shimmer lotion. The best part? You use less product while saving your hands from staining.
3. Use a Mirror
Applying your self-tan in front of a mirror is really handy to make sure you haven’t missed any areas.
Always apply your self-tan from your feet and work your way up. You should end with your arms. This ensures no crease marks in your tan. Always use circular motions when applying your tan to prevent it from looking streaky.
After application wear dark, loose-fitting clothing. If you’re tanning in the evening use an old sheet to sleep on.

Moisturised skin is the secret to a lasting tan. Use our Milk & Honey Hydrating Body Butter the day after your tan and every day after that to keep your skin hydrated and supple. Our Shimmer Cream is also perfect to use as a tan extender because it’s super moisturising; an added bonus is that it adds a beautiful tint and golden shimmer.
2. Keep Water to a Minimum
Avoid taking long baths and swimming for long periods. Gently pat dry your skin instead of rubbing. Also, avoid activities that cause one to perspire a lot in one area.
